You’ve heard it before, and I’m gonna tell you again because this IS the most important element to staying on course with a healthy lifestyle. I know that abs are made in the kitchen. I attribute 80% of my success to eating clean and 20% to exercise. Crazy to put that high of a number to it, but we’ve all met that person (or perhaps have been that person) who thought they could eat whatever the hell they wanted just because they were at the gym 7 days a week. Unless you’re Michael Phelps, this just won’t fly.
A passion for snackin’
When it comes to eating, snacking is something I’m passionate about. Yes, I have a passion for snacking. Why? Mainly because I love eating… but I have also mastered the art of snacking. As a former flight attendant, I lived out of a suitcase for 7 years and had a choice to make when it came to eating. I could just eat whatever was available around me in the airport, planes and hotels. Think about the types of foods that are generally available at those places – you have your fast food, greasy spoon restaurants, and convenience stores (ie, rich, high density, unhealthy fatty and sugary foods). Many who take this route generally only eat once or twice a day given the crazy and unpredictable schedule that flight attendants have, meaning that when they do eat, they pig the eff out. Alternatively, I had the choice to bring my own food. Yes, I may have been on the road for 5 days a time which seems crazy to bring that amount of food for that long but I was committed to my health and that’s exactly what I did.
