She’s where it’s at when it comes to fitness, yoga, mindfulness and putting it all together. I mentioned Boho Beautiful a few months back in the 5 YouTube Channels you’ll love more than you Gym post, and it turns out I’m not the only one that’s obsessed
A little background on Boho Beautiful… Juliana and her husband, Mark started Boho Beautiful 3 years ago and they have literally exploded since. They travel the world shooting yoga and Pilates videos in the most beautiful of places, have come out with some amazing programs & nutrition plans, and have so much more in the works!
I also love that these two lovebirds work together – they have SO much love and knowledge to share and I’m just sooo excited to share this awesome l’il interview with you.
:: WHERE ARE YOU RIGHT NOW? ::
We are currently on a little island in Thailand called Koh Kood.
:: YOU ONLY STARTED BOHO BEAUTIFUL IN 2014. DID YOU EVER DREAM THAT JUST A FEW YEARS LATER YOU’D HAVE A BOOMING BUSINESS AND BE TRAVELING THE WORLD LIKE YOU DO NOW? ::
To be honest we had no idea what would come of us starting to bring videos like this to the world. We bought some equipment one day and just started shooting and learning as we go. We loved shooting yoga anytime we would travel to beautiful places and then Boho Beautiful just took its form. We’ve worked really hard to make this our full-time job so we are extremely grateful for everything that has brought us to where we are today but we know that there is a lot more growing we need to do and that is really exciting to us.
:: HOW DO YOU BALANCE EXTENSIVE TRAVEL WITH HEALTH AND FITNESS? ::
We both strongly believe that’s it’s crucial to give ourselves one hour of “me” time every day. Whether that is waking up before the alarm clock to fit in a quick yoga practice or taking 2 hours of our morning to get on our motorbike and meditate by a waterfall (this is what’s we’ve been blessed with while spending time on this island). Self-care is a very important aspect of maintaining balance in your life no matter what career path you are on or the kind of lifestyle you follow.
:: YOU GUYS TRAVEL A LOT. WHAT ARE YOUR TIPS FOR STAYING HEALTHY WHEN YOU TRAVEL? ANY SNACKS OF CHOICE? ::
Being vegan definitely helps us stay on track while we travel as our food options are very limited haha. We always make sure that wherever we are, we stock up our hotel mini fridge with fresh fruits, nuts, and water. Having snacks like this around us makes sure we never go hungry.

:: WHAT DID THE TWO OF YOU DO BEFORE STARTING BOHO BEAUTIFUL? ::
Mark comes from the music world, back in the day he used to tour with Avril Lavigne where he was her base player. After that life took him into the corporate world. He ran the A&R department at Universal Music Canada where his job was to find talent and sign them to record deals. A career like that began to “suck his soul away” as he would say so he quit shortly after meeting me. I used to be a professional level rhythmic gymnast. I was on the Olympic Development team training for Beijing 2008 Olympics for most of my childhood. Due to the hard and demanding training schedule I ended up badly injuring my back, which forced me to retire from my sports career and rehabilitate myself through yoga and Pilates. That’s pretty much where my love for Pilates and yoga came from. After a few years of studying this beautiful kind of practice and movement I began to teach at many different yoga studios as well as a high end fitness facility called Equinox in Toronto. After a while Mark and I felt like we had to do more so we started Boho Beautiful not knowing where it would take us.
:: TALK TO ME ABOUT WORKING TOGETHER. WHAT’S YOUR FAVOURITE THING ABOUT IT AND DO YOU EVER GET ON EACH OTHER’S NERVES? ::
It’s an incredible thing when you can share one passion and career goals with your husband. We love it, we make a great team, each of us bringing something different to the table. I can’t say that everyday is a day in paradise as just like any married couple we have our disagreements from time to time but in the end we are in this together. No one else, just the two of us and it truly makes us proud to see how far we’ve come in two years.
:: YOU ARE BOTH HUGE ANIMAL LOVERS. DO YOU HAVE ANY PETS? ::
Yes our fur baby Prince. He is our 100 lb Rottweiler that we can’t wait to come back to Canada for. He usually goes everywhere with us but unfortunately taking him to Southeast Asia was just impossible.
:: IT SEEMS LIKE YOU’RE CONSTANTLY ON THE ROAD. HOW MANY DAYS WOULD YOU GUESS YOU SPEND AT HOME IN TORONTO EVERY YEAR? ::
We actually don’t have a home anymore. We sold and left everything behind in Toronto and besides coming to see Mark’s family, we have no plans of coming back. It’s a strange thing to say as at the moment we have no place to call home. Our dog is in Canada with my mom at the moment so we’re coming back for him in a month or so but after that, it’s the 3 of us in our van and this adventurous life.
:: IS THERE A LOCATION ON YOUR BUCKET LIST THAT YOU HAVEN’T GONE TO YET? ::
:: WHAT DOES YOUR WEEKLY WORKOUT SCHEDULE LOOK LIKE? ::
We don’t have an exact weekly schedule as everyday is different for us in terms of our tasks and shooting schedule, however I always start the day with a yoga workout, Pilates, or yoga. I try to listen to my body and if I feel great and energetic I always dedicate an hour to myself every morning and go through a tough workout like the ones I teach online. There are other days when I feel tired and a bit under the weather so I will stick to a more gentle yoga practice. But I guess starting my mornings with my own time/workout is key for me. The same goes for Mark as well.
:: YOU EAT A PLANT BASED/VEGAN DIET (ME TOO!) BUT DO YOU HAVE ANY GUILTY PLEASURES WHEN IT COMES TO FOOD? CHOCOLATE? …ANYTHING? ::
These days plant based treats are very easy to find. I eat dark chocolate from time to time and out here in Thailand right now coconut ice cream (made from local coconuts) is everywhere so that’s been my treat these days. In Canada our guilty pleasure are the vegan cheesecakes you can find in any health food stores. We don’t buy it often but when we do it’s amazing!
:: HOW ABOUT A COCKTAIL OR DRINK OF CHOICE? ::
Mark and I pretty much don’t drink, but from time to time we will indulge in a glass of wine.
:: HAVE YOU ALWAYS BEEN THIS FIT? OR WAS THERE A MOMENT WHERE YOU DECIDED TO MAKE SOME SERIOUS CHANGES? ::
After my serious injury and having to quit my sport career, I went though a time where I felt extremely depressed. I didn’t know my place in this world without having my gymnastics career to occupy my time with so I went though a phase of bad habits with food and even alcohol. I wasn’t vegan or even vegetarian back in those days so I became much heavier. Once I transitioned to a plant based diet, and truly found my outlet through yoga and Pilates my life changed completely. It was a moment when I looked at myself in the mirror and truly felt so unmotivated and unhappy of who I was becoming that I knew I had to take matters into my own hands. It was from that moment on that I never looked back.
:: DO YOU TAKE ANY VITAMIN SUPPLEMENTS? ::
We take a multivitamin and probiotics everyday to keep our immune systems strong through all the travelling that we do.
:: TELL US ABOUT YOUR BOHO BEAUTIFUL IN 10 DAYS PROGRAM? ::
This was a project that is very dear to our hearts. Mark and I created a program that we hoped would offer more than just yoga or fitness classes. We wanted to combine the whole mind, body, and soul experience into one package. So we went out to a beautiful island of Exuma in the Bahamas and shot 40 videos that consisted of yoga, fitness and meditations. We divided it into days so each day would be a different journey that a person would go through. Each day starts with a mantra or a theme which carries through to the fitness class, then the yoga class and finishes off with a meditation. The mantra focuses on an area of self growth, realization and awareness that our own happiness and well-being is truly in our own hands and that we have the ability to make it the best we can. The program follows a similar aspect that we believe in our own personal lives. The fact that we should dedicate at least one hour a day to ourselves. Self love or self care is very important in helping ourselves find peace and balance. So that’s where the program was born. We put our blood, sweat and tears into this and again just us two creating something that we hope will bring more positivity and light into people’s lives.

Yes everyday! Since we started Boho Beautiful his love for yoga continues to grow and he himself is going through a lot of changes with it.
:: CONGRATS ON YOUR RECENT NUPTIALS! ARE THERE KIDS IN THE FUTURE? SORRY… TOO SOON? ::
Thank you! Yes we definitely want to have kids in the near future. At the moment we’re just too pre-occupied with travelling and getting our business to the next level but I’m sure that time will come soon.
:: WHAT’S NEXT FOR THE TWO OF YOU? PROJECTS? LOCATIONS? ::
We have so many things on the go right now, it’s insane in the most wonderful ways. While travelling through Southeast Asia we are creating a new 4-pack series of yoga workouts, Pilates, and Yin Yoga classes. It will be 45 min long classes in each theme. We shot our yoga workouts on beautiful beaches of Malaysia, just finished our Pilates pack in Thailand and are about to start our Yin Yoga pack in Cambodia. Super excited to release these packs soon just as summer approaches in North America. We also just announced that we will be doing a cross North American tour in our van with our pup this summer when we come back to Canada. More details will be released but we are planning on about 2-3 months of road tripping, charity yoga classes, meet ups etc! Going to be a fun summer ahead of us!
