*This is a sponsored post with Vivier, and I feel darn lucky about it because I’m in love with their skincare products.
Does anyone miss the days of a skincare routine consisting solely of a bar of soap? Ya, me neither. As soon as I started making my own money, I would spend every penny on drug store lotions and potions for my face, and I’ve been skincare obsessed since I was old enough to remember. But that doesn’t mean I have perfect skin. Quite the opposite actually. Along with an addiction to skincare products, I also LOVE experimenting with makeup. I’ll play YouTube video after YouTube video watching makeup tutorials and strive for that “makeup-free dewy skin” look whilst piling on pounds of makeup. Wearing tons of makeup, as you know, clogs your pores like crazy. And while it’s totally fine to wear it, removing it completely is so, SO important for clear skin.
So, if you’re like most ladies – makeup in the morning, wash face at night, repeat, then listen up. This post is for you.
One day, while attempting a no-makeup-dewy-skin look I saw on YouTube, it occurred to me, seven layers of foundation and highlighter later… Why am I spending so much time making my skin look like it’s hydrated and glowing when it’s not?! Can I not achieve this look naturally?
I’ve always wavered back and forth with skincare products, not knowing if they actually help and never noticing drastic improvements. My skin isn’t bad but between tons of sun exposure as a kid and in my teens, living in an insanely dry climate in Calgary, and now in my 30s, collagen is starting to peace out, my skin needs some help. I have a massive sun spot on my cheek from prolonged sun exposure, clogged pores on my nose and chin, and redness on my cheeks. Pretty typical, actually. But that doesn’t mean I’m comfortable with it. I’d rather have flawless skin that I can show off WITHOUT having to wear makeup every single day. Is that too much for a girl to ask?
Instead of relying on drug stores to tell me what’s hot right now for skincare, I decided to seek out opinions from the professionals. I wanted to consult people who specialized in skincare for a living and get their opinion on what I needed to make my skin glow. At around the same time, I was connected with a Canadian company out of Montreal called Vivier. I searched for reviews on their product lines, and they were phenomenal. I decided to initially do a 14-day trial period to learn if I saw any improvements, as the brand prides itself on the beauty of results.
The next step was for me to go to a clinic to get the Vivier products and also receive a facial peel. The one closest to me was Sante Medical in Calgary. I freaking loved it there and asked if I could move in. They have treatments for everybody under the sun (very punny… ;)) and the nicest, most knowledgeable people working there. The lady doing my facial, Simona, was so freaking sweet. She had been in the industry for over 20 years and knew her stuff from the inside out. She also made me feel really good. I’m not sure if you’ve ever had this experience – but it seems to happen to me all the time at spas and at the dentist for some reason – where they make you feel REALLY bad about the condition of your skin/teeth, freak you out about long term consequences, and then try and sell you a million different products that will miraculously fix your problems. It makes me feel so embarrassed and obviously not want to purchase a thing from them. But not Simona. Oh, no. She is like a fairy godmother and will compliment you until the cows come home. We like Simona.
I opted for the Vivier peel that boasted dewy, hydrated skin – my literal life goal. The description, “ideal for aging skin, age spots, dehydrated skin, oily skin, and congested skin” sold me. Because, you know, I’m 31 after all… collagen is flying outta my body at a rapid pace and I’m holding onto it for dear life.
The first thing we did was remove my makeup. If I hadn’t been shooting earlier that day, I would have shown up with no makeup on. I’d highly recommend showing up with a naked face so you can just get started with the treatment right away.
Next, she applied the chemical peel to my face, and let me tell you… it did NOT smell like flowers. It did smell a bit chemically, as the name would suggest, but she also took the liberty of giving me a hydrating hand massage to take my mind off of it. After each hand was meticulously lathered and massaged, she wiped off the peel. It tingled in a really good way and already, I was feeling super fresh.
Next, she lathered on a moisturizing mask and let that sit for a while before sending me on my merry way. My skin GLOWED. I was a peel virgin before this treatment but I’m definitely doing it again!
She assembled certain products from the Vivier line that would work well with my skin and explained to me how to use each one. Here’s a breakdown of my cleansing steps:
- Vivier Hexam Cleanser: AM & PM
- Vivier Refreshing Toner: AM & PM
- Vivier CE Peptides: AM & PM
- Vivier Peptide CR eye Crème: AM & PM
- Vivier Age Defying Moisturizer: AM & PM
- Vivier Neck Cream: AM & PM
- Vivier Sunscreen Lotion SPF 30: AM
- Vivier Retinol 1% Night Repair: PM (4x per week)
- Vivier Hydrating Mask: twice per week
If you’re also a serial product buyer and don’t pledge allegiance to certain face products like I once did, I highly recommend you try Vivier products. After using them every morning and every night, here’s what I’ve noticed:
Less redness, particularly after using retinol at night
Less oiliness in my t-zone
Plumper, dewier, and more moisturized skin overall
Far less blackheads, likely due to how effective the cleanser was
Unfortunately, my sunspot is still visible, but I am continuing with the vitamin C serum in hopes that it will brighten up the discolouration. I’m considering heading back to Sante Medical to have a consultation with one of their specialists and ask what kinds of treatments they offer, so I’ll keep you posted on that!
All in all, I’m supremely happy with Vivier products and I’ve already started recommending them to friends. My husband has also taken a shining to the C E Peptides, which diminishes the appearance of fine lines, aging, and brightens both of our skin, so you know I’ll be stocking up on more 😉
Should you find yourself at any of the Vivier retailers I listed above, I want you to hold, smell, and test out each product. Even if you don’t buy them all, it’s worth a visit just to experience the products in real life and talk to an expert about the specific needs of your skin. And if you do end up buying some products, make sure you take before and after photos – it truly makes such a huge difference!
Love, peace, and good quality skin care
