Back at my second home – this time with a fall 2020 edition of WestHills Towne Centre. I’m hosting Thanksgiving dinner for the very first time this weekend and holy moly this might just be the most adult thing I’ve ever done. I’m nervous about dinner, decor, and have been having full-on night terrors where the turkey is still frozen when I serve it. I calmed my nerves this week with a bit of retail therapy at WestHills and bought as many supplies as I could in advance of the big day… and a few things for me 🙂
As always, I start my shopping experience at Starbucks with a warm drink. This time, a Venti comfort tea. While waiting, the lady behind me ordered a pumpkin spice latte and now I feel like I’m not living up to everyone’s fall standard. Moving on…
With both kids back in school and requiring uniforms, Carter’s is my go-to shop. Their white collared shirts are a mess by the end of the day and instead of doing endless loads of laundry, I choose to be more efficient and purchase their uniform pieces in bulk. The prices are very reasonable and I also picked up some really cute winter Kombi socks and mitts for the kids.
Why have I not been here before? Do you know how many cute things I picked up at this store? I was on the hunt for something, anything, that fit over my baby bump and would look cute for Thanksgiving dinner and I found… I dunno like 30 different options. It’s not a maternity store but had a ton of longer tops that look perfect over leggings, aka your stretchy Thanksgiving dinner pants.
I also bought a blanket jacket from there that I will not be taking off until next summer. The colour is perfectly stunning and livens up my typically monotone outfits. I will be coming back here to make up for all the times I hadn’t stopped here before. They have AMAZING pieces that you won’t find in a typical store.
I’m more stressed about my Thanksgiving tablescape than how the food actually tastes. Is that my Instagram showing? Daniadown has some really cute pieces in stock right now, including Turkish tea towels, cloth napkins, and faux plants.
This stop was basically for the day after Thanksgiving dinner. There’s no limit to what we can all eat this time of year, especially when some of us of eating for two 😉 Running Room does custom fittings for shoes and has some really cute styles. With a lot of gyms being at capacity right now, I’ve taken to strolling outside with my little homies so it was nice to get a new pair of shoes for that.
Thanksgiving dessert?! I have to do that too?? Just kidding, I pawned that off to my sister-in-law but got the ice cream to go with it. Marble Slab now has vegan ice cream which jazzes me to no end. I picked up one pint of their vegan chocolate and one pint of vegan coconut and couldn’t help but have them mix in some gummy bears and sprinkles in that one.
Breaking news – there is a massage place catered to parents at WestHills now! They are currently in a temporary location right next to Mint Nail Lounge and open for business. Their permanent location is being renovated and will be opening next month (November, 2020). That location is right next to Marble Slab so just a few dozen storefronts over from where they’re set up now. This is where I ended my day and I loved every minute of it, 60 to be exact. It was really simple for me to book an appointment online and the massage therapist was outstanding.
But let’s go back to that part about being catered to parents. They are called Mama Massage because they will look after your kids while you get a massage. Their new location being built right now will have a play structure for your kiddos and accredited childminders. If you’re wondering what to get your girlfriends, your spouse, literally anyone for Christmas, please get them this (I hope my husband is reading this). They sell packages of 5 or 10 massages that include childminding and you can split the massages between up to 4 people… if you feel inclined to share.
I mentioned this in my last post but feel the need to reiterate because it’s one of my favourite features about WestHills. Every store has a separate outdoor entrance and parking is also outside. I feel so comfortable shopping here and am so appreciative of the precautions each store has taken to follow proper social-distancing requirements.
I hope you have a phenomenal Thanksgiving long weekend.
Love, peace & still regretting not getting a PSL
